Infrastructure of JITM
The Institute have two fully furnished lecture hall complexes with 28 classrooms. There is a separate conference room and an audiovisual room with the most modern facilities. Each classroom has the capacity to seat 64 students. The lecture hall complexes are divided into two blocks, CRC - I is for the Basic Sciences Department & class works and CRC - II for all Engineering Departments. A beautiful garden adds to the attraction between the two blocks apart from the centrally air conditioned Library.
The fully computerized library is a learners' paradise. It is an invaluable resource with approximately 20, 000 books to cater the needs of students and faculty members. The library has a wide range of books on Computer Science, Electronics & Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical & allied subjects. The library subscribes to a number of foreign and Indian journals related to advanced technologies and computing. It remains open for fairly long hours everyday for the convenience of the students. The library brings out several publications for reference purposes. Reference, reprographic, database search, audio-visual facility, industrial information, press clippings, articles are made available on request. Some of the journals that the institute's library has subscribed to are Journal of Chemical Engineering from Japan, Journal of Mechanical Engineering, IEEE journal for Instrumentation and Measurement and Dr's Dobbs Journal. The library subscribes to Udyog Pragati (The Journal for Practicing Managers), Indian Journal of Chemical Technology and many other national journals also. It has very recently subscribed to Delnet (digital library) for further enhancing the reference facilities at
the library.
JITM is a residential institute; hence it is desirable for every student to stay within the campus. All the students can be accommodated on campus in well-equipped rooms in the institute hostels. The hostels have all modern amenities including a mess with multi cuisine food, TV room, common room with indoor games & a modern multi-gym facility. The hostels can accommodate 260 boys, and a separate ladies hostel has been added to the institute's ever growing infrastructure. The campus wide intranet (which is being laid) will provide connectivity to all the hostels. The hostels are supervised by members of the staff and are managed by the student representatives.
Other facilities provided to the student community include different indoor and out door games. The students are also encouraged to take part in various sports, games organized within the campus and at the university level. Our students have come out with flying colors in various University tournaments. A well planned cricket ground, basketball court, volleyball court, 3 badminton courts (one is reserved for Ladies Hostel) are also maintained.
The Institute also provides transportation facilities for the convenience of staff and students to take them from Parlakhemundi to the campus and back. Apart from this public transport services such as buses, jeeps & hiring tempos are also available with minimum cost for commuting between Parlakhemundi and the campus.
